Helpful Tools

For over three decades the field of graphic design has changed significantly. Many talented craftsmen have had to change jobs or retool to survive these changes. But there are some helpful tools that remain useful even in our rapidly changing world.

Below you will find the most common proofreader marks. Their origins are likely from publishing proofreaders and designers needing to convey changes to typesetters back in the days of paste-ups and glue jars. Most designers are still familiar with these marks. So when you are conveying your changes to designers on .pdf files, try these and see if they recognize them. If not, you may want to rethink with whom you are working.
